Dashboards

Live pages that belong to a workflow. Describe what a dashboard should show and the Builder makes it; neurons keep it up to date by sending to its feeds.

A dashboard is a live page that belongs to a workflow: headline numbers, charts, tables or a short note. You describe what it should show, and the Builder writes the page and the feeds it reads its data from. All your dashboards are on the Dashboards page.

Create a dashboard

  1. Open Dashboards in the top navigation.
  2. Click New dashboard.
  3. Pick the workflow it belongs to and give it a name.
  4. Click Create. The dashboard opens with the Builder on the left and the page on the right.

You can also create one on the canvas: open Dashboards in the left rail and click New dashboard.

Build it with the Builder

In the Build tab, describe what the dashboard should show and who it's for, for example "Four headline numbers for leadership, daily revenue as a trend, and the top agents by installs". Press Send.

The Builder edits the current page. It changes only what you ask for and keeps everything else, including edits you made by hand. Each change is saved as a new version.

Until a feed has real data, the page shows example values so you can see how it looks. A note above the page says when it's showing examples.

Each Builder message uses credits, like any other AI call. A message that fails or can't be used is not charged.

Feeds

Feeds are a dashboard's inputs. The Feeds tab lists each one with:

  • its kind: Fields (named numbers), Series (rows over time), Table (rows) or Text (a note);
  • how new data is applied: Replace, Append, or Update by key (rows with the same key are updated, others added), and how many rows are kept;
  • its fields and their types;
  • when it was last updated, and by whom. A feed that hasn't been updated as often as expected shows "older than expected".

To try the page with your own data, click Set a value on a feed, enter the value as JSON, and click Save value. A value that doesn't fit the feed's fields is refused with the reason.

If you ask the Builder to remove or change a feed that neurons send data to, it asks you to confirm first: Change it anyway or Keep it as it was.

Keep it up to date with neurons

A neuron sends its result to a dashboard from SEND:

  1. Open the neuron's SEND and turn on Dashboard.
  2. Under Dashboard feeds, pick the dashboard and the feed, and click Add. Add as many feeds as you need.
  3. After each run, the result is written to those feeds and the dashboard updates.

How the result becomes the feed's values:

  • Rows (a neuron whose result is a table, from Steps, Code or AI): each feed field takes the column with the same name. For headline numbers, it takes the sum of that column (the average for a percentage).
  • Text (an AI neuron writing text): the values are read from the text by AI. This costs a small amount of credits per run.
  • A note (a text feed): the result is written as it is.

To choose yourself, click Where the values come from on a feed and pick a column, a sum, average, lowest, highest or last value of a column, the number of rows, or Read by AI from the output.

New values follow the feed's rule: numbers are replaced, rows are added (or updated when they share the key), and only the most recent rows are kept when the feed has a limit.

If a value can't be written (the feed was removed, or the dashboard was deleted), the neuron's Dashboard destination shows why; the run itself still counts. Test runs don't send anything.

On the canvas

Each dashboard of the workflow appears on the canvas as a card with one port per feed. A line runs from every neuron that sends to it to the feeds it fills, and a dashed line runs from the port on the card's header to every neuron that reads it. Drag a card by its header to move it, or click it to open the dashboard.

Installed agents

When someone installs an agent that sends to or reads dashboards, their copy gets its own private copies of those dashboards, without data. Their runs fill and read their own dashboards, never yours.

Read a dashboard in a neuron

A neuron can read a dashboard of its workflow in two ways.

As an input. In GET, set an input's type to Dashboard and pick the dashboard. Choose what the neuron gets:

  • Data: the dashboard's current data, as JSON, one entry per feed. If it's too long, the oldest rows are left out and the input says how many.
  • Link: the dashboard's shared link. If the dashboard is private, only you can open the link, and the input says so; share it first if the neuron sends the link to other people.

As a reference. In DO instructions, a text input or a SEND field, type {{ or click Insert a reference and pick from Dashboards:

  • {{dashboard.<ID>}}: all its data, as JSON.
  • {{dashboard.<ID>.<feed>}}: one feed. A text feed is its text; other feeds are JSON.
  • {{dashboard.<ID>.link}}: its shared link.

The dashboard's ID is shown next to its name when you open it. To change it, click the pencil next to the ID (in a workflow's canvas); every reference to it is updated. A reference to a dashboard or feed that no longer exists shows in red, and the neuron won't run until it's fixed.

The dashboard's Feeds tab lists the neurons that read it under Read by.

Share a dashboard

Open the dashboard and click Share (or the Share tab). Choose who can open it:

  • Only you: visible to you inside Neuron. This is how every dashboard starts.
  • Specific people: add the email addresses that may open it. They sign in with that email. Someone who doesn't have an account yet gets access when they sign up with it. No email is sent; send them the link yourself.
  • Anyone signed in with the link: any Neuron account that has the link.

Everyone signs in before they see a shared dashboard. Viewers see the page and its live data, never your workflow, prompts or source documents. The page checks for new data regularly while it's open, so viewers see new values without reloading.

The link looks like goneuron.io/@your-username/dashboard-name-dash_…. Copy copies it, and Open shared view opens it in a new tab. If you rename the dashboard or change your username, old links still work and open the current address.

Reset link makes a new link; the old one stops working. The Share tab also shows how many people have opened the dashboard (one view per person per day; your own visits don't count).

Edit the HTML

The HTML tab shows the page's code. You can edit it and click Save. Pages read their data with neuron.feed("key") and run in a sandbox with no network or storage, so they can only show the data in their feeds.

While the Builder is working, the HTML can't be edited. If the dashboard changed since you opened it, your save is refused rather than overwriting the newer version; choose Discard my edit and reload to see the latest one.

History

The History tab lists every version of the page and its feeds: who made it (you or the Builder) and when. Click Restore to bring an earlier version back as a new version. Restoring doesn't bring back data: data in feeds isn't versioned, and data of feeds the restored version doesn't have is removed.

Rename or delete a dashboard

  • Rename: click the pencil next to the dashboard's name.
  • Delete: on the Dashboards page, open the dashboard's options (the three dots) and choose Delete, then Delete again. A dashboard that neurons still send data to or read can't be deleted until you remove it from those neurons.
  • Deleting a workflow: deleting a workflow also deletes its dashboards, and their shared links stop working.

Storage

A dashboard's page and data count toward the same storage limits as the workflow's documents.
